Energy&IT member Faschang wins IEEE Video Competition

From October 21st till 24th 2013 the IEEE SmartGridComm Conference took place in Vancouver, Canada. In the course of this conference the IEEE Student Video Competition took place as well, where the award for the best Smart Grid application video was granted to Mr. Mario Faschang for his video “Electric Vehicle in Smart Grid Showcase”.

Mario Faschang is an active IEEE R8 member (Austria Section) and a member of the Energy&IT research group, which is part of the Institute of Computer Technology of Vienna University of Technology. Mario’s research topics are in the field of Energy&IT and focus on voltage control in low voltage distribution grids with high density of distributed, alternative power generation and electromobility.

Congratulations to the winner!

About energyit

Energy & IT is a research group at the Institute of Computer Technology at the Vienna University of Technology. We work in research projects of two domains, on one side power engineering and information technology (IT) on the other side, with our goal of connecting both fields of research. The CO2-complex of problems, rising energy demand, and use of IT are causing a fundamental change of electrical energy usage. The tasks of IT inside the energy system starts with sensory data acquisition of usage data, including databases, electrical energy services, up to global distributed control mechanisms of distributed energy resources.
