Description

The SafeWIEN – Safe Wireless Enhanced Node project aims to develop a platform concept for a “Safe Wireless Link” for safety-critical applications. To ensure safe operation, such solutions must have particular reliability characteristics in order to be used.

Solutions for special applications already exist on the market, but their development and certification is very cost-intensive, especially for small series or individual applications. These high development and certification costs represent a major hurdle for the realization of the projects, which are often not feasible at the labor-intensive Vienna location.

A modular, verifiable platform with the option to certify functional safety, which enables a cost-effective implementation as of lot size 1, does not exist and will be explored in this project. This is to be achieved by abstract system modeling of security and reliability aspects as well as the use of formal methods.
